Hello.

The challenge this month at Archi-scraps is to use fruit on your page. This is an unusual challenge but in my stash I found fruit paper and also a great photo of my grandson clowning around when we were trying to take a photo. He must have known that I would need it sometime.
I hope you enjoy my page.
Cheers and Happy Scrapping.

For November 123 Challenge Scrapbooking  blog using the colours Green, Navy and Grey. Also to use the words Awesome Adventure. There was also a sketch to work with. The photos I chose to work with fitted the challenge really well.

This is a late blog for the month but I hope you enjoy my take on the challenge.

No 2.  Circles.......tick. No 3. Spray. ......tick. No 4,  Stencil or Template......tick ( used in conjunction with the circles).  No 5,  Favourite Product......tick. (At the moment my spritzer). That has covered all items.

Beautiful...Perfect Day

My second challenge this month is White With One.  The colour for this month was Pink Whisper. I have had a sweet photo of Chloe for quite a while that I have been saving for something special. The Pink Whisper was perfect! The background has been made black and white which makes Chloe and Teddy and the subtle pink colour stand out. This photo was taken in Adelaide on the way to the Teddy Bears Picnic. We all took a teddy.......grandma, grandpa, mum and dad and we sang along and enjoyed ourselves. There is always the inner child in us. The latest kaisercraft range was perfect for this challenge. I love the finished page.

Sparkle

This is a bit of a late start on challenges for the month, but better late than never. For my first challenge I have chosen the challenge at Archiscraps. The challenge was to use knots.I have only used one knot on my page but I rifled through my daughters patchwork supplies and chose a lovely piece of fabric and then tied a knot in it. I am a lover of yellow. So I had a lot of fun and enjoyment putting this page together. Firstly I embossed some white cardstock which for some reason only embossed on one side and faded out to the other side. It was perfect. I would like to think that I would be able to replicate this look some time but I am really not sure why it did this. But I loved it. This is one of the great things about scrapbooking. It is never a mistake, you can always work with it...or cover it. Layering different paper and cardstock I triple matted and distressed the foundation for the photo. The edges of the photo were softened with a bit of sanding along the edges. For the background I have firstly spritzed,  then stamped  and then embossed with texture paste. I then positioned the photo on the page and arranged the flowers, twine and bling.

Beautiful

October rolls around and we now adjust to daylight saving time. After a winter of colds and serious flu I am off to Port Douglas to get a bit of sun. My how the year has flown. This months challenge for the 123 Challenge blog is to use the sunny colours Yellow , Orange and Red. Good colours for the start of the warmer weather. Also to use the words Beautiful and You and to use the sketch challenge. I was so busy folowing the sketch and working with the colours I have missed using the words. Actually I didn't realize until I started to post that I had missed that detail. I may have just sqeezed in the word You. So anyhow moving along I chose this photo to bring in some of the red and then coloured and glossed  chipboard cutout also in red. Choosing the Kaisercraft gold colour paper as my main colour feature allowed the stronger colours to create an impact. Pop over to the 123 challenge blog and see what the other talented design team members have created and maybe give it a try yourself.
Beautiful.

Thanks for popping into my blog. Please feel free to leave a comment so that I know you have been.

Love

This month I am doing a challenge for a new blog that I have come across called Archi-Scraps. The criteria for September was to use Lots of Something. I have a cute little daisy punch that I bought very early on in my scrapbook adventure. I have used and loved it for a long time but it has had a bit of a holiday in the drawer of late. So I dusted it off and went to work with it. What was I thinking! I punched and punched, different colours, punched some more and THEN I had to stick them on ....one by one. As I said, what was I thinking. Obvoiusly I wasn't because I then decided to put a diamente in the middle of each one.....one by one. But mother never bred a quitter so I persevered. It was worth it because I loved my page when I had finished. I hope you enjoy my page and my Lots of Something was Daisy Flowers.

Together

Having a lazy Sunday I decided to try the September 15 Challenge for Let's Get Sketchy.  I loved the golden tones of this range of Kaisercraft papers and had a sweet photo that the colours complimented. To soften the background I added a light spritz and then layered papers and cut outs to bring out the design of the sketch. Then adding some embellishments gave it all some depth.

By The Seaside. Stuck! Sketches.

For the challenge for Stuck Sketches I have turned the sketch around to make it portrait orientation to suit my photo. I have tried to continue the beach and sand theme with the colours that I have used in the various papers.

Special Time

The colour for the White With One challenge Soul Pea was really delightful and I loved working with it. The photo I chose to use for this page was of Chloe and Mum and matched well with the colour.

Just Super Let's get sketchy

The Lets Get Sketchy challenge for September featured banners which I love to use. This page is the opposite to the previous one. This page is monochromatic and so the focus on the page is the photo of our super little guy taken a few years ago. I love banners on pages and use them quite frequently. Even though this page is quite subdued I love it. Sometimes less is more.
Just Super
I hope you enjoy my page.

Happy Days Scrapbookit September

I have a few pages to put on my blog this month. I had a wonderful weekend away at Ballarat with some delightful friends. Organized by our mother hen Jenny we six just scrapped and scrapped and chatted and ate and really had a lovely time catching up. Wonderful!! Unfortunately our number seven didn't make it ending up in hospital with severe flu complications. Vicki I hope you are recovering. We thought of you a lot and missed your usually bright company. My first page is for the Scrapbookit challenge which was a sketch challenge and a wonderful bright colour palette. With a bit of spritzing on the background to pick up the colours and lots of fun with the bright colours. I like pages to be square and neat and the angles on the page were a bit of a challenge. When the page was completed I was quite happy with it and the angles seemed to work.
Happy Days
I hope you enjoy my page.

Cousins Always Love Time Together

This page is my challenge for the 123 Challenge Blog for September. The criteria was Denim, Sand, and sky blue and also using the words Love and Always. There was also a sketch as a guide as well. Because I didn't have two photos's that would work with the sketch I used a single photo and cut it in two. I was happy with that and thought that it worked well.

Family Fun

The August challenge for 123 Challenge blog  is Chocolate , Teal, Violet plus the sketch. And also using the words Family Fun. For this challenge I was holidaying in Adelaide ( I wasn't organized enough to do it before I left) and didn't have all my bits to scrap with so I raided my grand- daughters craft box and any thing that I could lay my hands on. Then to my delight I discovered that there was a quilting and craft show at the Adelaide show grounds.  So off I went in the pouring rain, read torrential rain, and had a delightful morning browsing to my hearts content. Leaving laden with goodies that I couldn't leave behind and I thought that  maybe I had enough to finish my page.
Cheers and Happy Scrapping.

Kaisercraft May Challenge

I was browsing through the Kaisercraft blog when I found their challenge for May. The challenge was a Kaiser Bingo. Choose the letter and match with something that to use on the page. I used P for paper, D for die and F for flower. In my stash I had the Kaisercraft paper range Cottage Rose which suited a pretty photo that I had of Chloe eating a cupcake that she had helped make and decorate. I spritzed  the backgound after I had flicked the page with water. This created a water mark effect. Then I used a Kaisercraft script stamp and over stamped the spritzing. Just a simple background but enough to give  a nice segue for the papers from the Cottage Rose collection that I had distressed and inked. The Kaiser die...lattice gave an interesting feature  to blend in with the photo and papers. A flag banner and some bling and flowers completed the page.

That's My Boy

This weekend I am at a wonderful scrapbook retreat in the gorgeous town of Bright in North East Victoria.Vibrant autumn colours, mist on the mountains and a nip in the air. What a wonderful ambience for scrapbooking. The team at Stuck!Sketches have challenged us with a great sketch for the May 15 challenge. I chose a lovely summery happy snap of Noah and used the Cocoa Vanilla You Rock collection.

Together we are Awesome

This month the challenge at White With 1 is to use deepest black. I decided on the old addage ....less is more. So I chose a couple of Kaisercraft dies that were a bit interesting and used the Kaisercraft black glitter card stock. To soften the background I spritzed and then stamped over the top. That was the basis of my page. The with the addition of a flower, some berries and twine it all came together. I mounted the photo with a very fine blue border and then double mounted with the black glitter cardstock. I was happy with the result because the photo still remains the hero of the page.

I Am Still Writing My Story!

OMG! I am suffering through my first winter flu for the season. But the good side to it is that it should be done and dusted by the next weekend. Then I can kick up my heels at the Scrapbookit retreat in Bright. What a beautiful area in the Autumn. The colours of the foliage are splendid and a sight to behold. The Scrapbookit challenge for May is reflective of the season and is very colourful. The challenge was to include a photo of yourself.I would much rather be behind the camera than in front of it. Add little bit of mixed media ( which I am not good at) and some prompts. I chose the I am prompt and added to it.......I am not finished my story yet. For my mixed media I sprinkled my page with water and then spritzed it and added some stamping. I then added a lot of cut outs and words and as for the bike.....well I just thought it looked cute.

Family

The challenge at 123 Challenge blog for May was the colour Teal, the word family and some stencilling. For this I chose a photo of Christie and Pete with Fletcher just before the arrival of Milla. The colour teal was easy to work with and I put just a touch of pink on the page for Milla. Pop over to the 123 challenge page to see how the rest of the design team interpreted the challlenge.

Us

My one and only challenge this month is for the Stuck! Sketches challenge. I was taken by the sketch and chose some papers whose colour had really taken my eye. It is fabscraps tropical jungle and tropical flowers. The photo is Noah and Chloe gathering flowers to make a fairy circle on the lawn.(It must have worked because the fairies left them a lollypop each during the night!) Oh to be young and an innocent believer.

Busy Bee

What an inspiration it is to have a late night Scrapping session with a like minded friend. The challenge that I chose was Scrapbookit's March challenge All About Boys. When I started my Scrapbooking journey it was all about girls because for the first eight years There was no grandson on the horizon. It took me a while to learn how to use the boy side of my brain and to also build up a boy related stash. The photo's that I have used are of Noah in the garden. Anything to do with water or has wheels attached and he is a very busy little boy. These photo's incorporate both. I used as my starting point paper from the Bella Rosa Collection pack from Bo Bunny and then added bits and pieces to make it a bit busy like him.

Fun

The challenge for this month for the 123 Challenge Blog was Brown, Borders and the word Fun. To create an interesting depth with the colour brown I have used four different shades  and then added just a hint of aqua. Using three different border punches I then layered them length ways on the page alternating all the different papers and borders that I had chosen.  Using the same papers I then triple matted the photo. The photo was a fun photo taken of Chloe and Noah tickling Lily as we were trying to set up a photo of the three. The two littlest thought that it was great fun. I then added some flowers and twine and some bling scattered around the photo. To finish the page I then randomly border punched a few spots and mounted the page on the brown cardstock. The word fun was a plywood cut out that I inked and then glossed.
Fun.
If you enjoyed my page take the time to pop over to the 123 Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the design team have created and maybe do the challenge yourself.

Raindrops

I have had this page sitting on my table since early this month but have not had the time to finish it. So now is the time. The challenge at Scrapbookit this month was a song title, washi tape and a touch of gold. There was also a sketch to use as a guide. I used washi tape with gold embossing to cover two of the requirements and the song title fitted with some cute photos that I had of Chloe and Dad in the rain.

Friends.

Last month was such a busy month and I managed to get a few pages done. But this month the Stars have not aligned so easily and this is my first  post.  My first page was a challenge I did as a design team member for 123 Challenge Blog.  The challenge was the colour red, the word friends and the technique was flowers. Red can be a harsh colour to work with so I chose a slightly subdued red and used it sparingly. The photo that I chose was black and white so that there were no colours to clash with the red. It was a great photo of Grandpa, Chloe and Noah doing their Blues Brothers impersonation in their sunnies. Take the time to pop over to the challenge blog to see what the other team members have done with their challenge and also give it a go yourself.

The 2 Of Us

A last challenge for the month. This one is for Scrap the Boys and the criteria was to use numerals. I chose a delightful photo of grandpa and Fletcher in a cute moment. The chipboard number 2 was in my stash just waiting to be used. I inked to match my background paper and then I glossed it. Some spritzing and stamping on the background gave the page depth .

Love

This blog challenge is a blog site that I haven't tried as yet but I loved their colour pallet and the sketch associated with it. This challenge was really great to work with. It is d-lishscraps. My inspiration was the corrugated doors and the colours. Also the white frame in the colour palette encouraged me to put a white frame around the photo. I turned the sketch sideways so that it worked with my portrait orientation of the photo.

Fabulous

We had some beautifully refreshing rain yesterday and overnight. When I went for an early morning walk I could smell the lemon scented gums on the air. We then sat outside for breakfast and a cuppa. It's really hard this retirement thing but I think that if I try hard I may get the hang of it. So while I try to get the hang of it I have done a challenge for White With One which was to use the colour Princess Pink. I wanted a page that was pretty and delicate.I decided to border my page with a Kaisercraft pink spot from their Oh So Lovely Collection . Then a little spritzing and  a script stamp prepared the background. The photo of my little fairy princess at her birthday was perfect for this challenge. Adding a collection of butterflies, flowers and bling and the page was "fabulous "
Fabulous
Hmmm. I think I have a little bit of shadow effect in the photo. Ho hum that is something for me to work on. I hope you have enjoyed my page. Leave me a message if you would like to comment. Happy Scrapping. Heather Bensley.

Congratulations

How can we already be into the second week for the year? I have had a relaxing time. I retired from work on Christmas Eve and have already read two books and have done three scrapbook pages. I had better slow down or I will be setting a standard that I won't be able to sustain. I guess the hot weather keeps you inside under the aircon also. I have quite a bucket list to work through. The first page is the challenge Jo has set for Scrapbookit. It was a great mood board with a lot to challenge you. I decided  to go with the bright colours and the circles with just a dash of the black and white. Our number 2 grandchild, Noah, graduated from Kindergarten in 2016 and is very excited and looking forward to school in 2017. He is proudly holding his certificate and the photo is a great contrast to the bright colours that I chose to use.
Congratulations
I think one of the items that I should put on my bucket list is to learn how to photograph my pages to give an accurate image. Anyhow I hope you enjoy my page. Happy Scrapping. Heather Bensley.

Look to the Stars

Towards the end of last year I received an exciting email from Alicia from the 123 Challenge Blog. She asked me if I would like to be part of the Design Team for her blog. OMG I was extremely excited to accept her offer.  This is my first page as a member of the design team for 123 Challenge Blog. The challenge was Blue, stars and the word Proud. Browsing through my photos I found the perfect one to go with the colours I wanted to work with. Using a Kaisercraft mist, antique gold, I spritzed the background first. Then I used a grunge stamp to add to the background. The star die that I have used was the first die that I bought and has been very well used over the years.
Look to the Stars
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have a fabulous new year. Happy Scrapping. Heather Bensley.
