Perfect Moment

I have just managed to squeeze in another challenge. The team at 123 Challenge had  an interesting challenge. The challenge was Black and White /Perfect /Stamping.
I liked the Black and white theme and chose a photo with good colour to compliment  the this. My photography of  the page is not very good and for some reason I have a blue shading across the bottom. Ignore that! And I was actually pleased with the page. The black and white is an interesting colour way to make the photo pop on the page. I think I will try this combination more often.

Happy New Year and Happy Scrapping.

Sweet Hair

Christmas is knocking on the door! This will be my last post for 2015 before all the visitors arrive. To have all the family together is always the bonus. Best wishes to all my scrapping friends and a special thought to my dear neighbor who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. I hope everyone has a very happy and festive Christmas season and a wonderful new year.

This page is for a challenge with White With One and the colour is Majorca Blue. This really was a challenge because it isn't a colour that I usually work with. But once again a bit of a scratch through the stash and you surprise yourself with what you find. It is a cute photo of Fletcher and he has really come to the party with his eyes matching beautifully with the colour challenge. I just love cooperation all around. The hairdo is not manufactured...it is real!
I was happy with the result....just a sweet little boy page with little fuss.

Merry Christmas and Happy Scrapping.

Travellers

I have managed to fit in another scrap challenge this busy month. Sometimes it is so relaxing to go into my scrap room and immerse myself in the construction of a page. The memories as you sift through the photo's to choose one to suit the page you have in mind almost take the most time!
However I have done the Scrap The Boys challenge for December. It is a fairly simple page with lots of punching and cutting and finishing off with a bit of machine stitching.
I loved these photo's of Noah and Grandpa as they were waiting for the train at the station.

Merry Christmas and Happy Scrapping.

Smile.

I thought that I would get this challenge in for Scrap The Girls quick smart because I think it is going to get busy and hectic this month.
I loved the colours and the inspiration on the mood board. I flicked through a few photo's and this one popped up perfectly to match the theme that I had chosen. Lily had just got a new parka and gloves and beanie for a trip to the snow and modeled them for me. Lo and behold the camera just happened to be handy and I got a few nice snaps.

I hope you enjoy my page.
Happy Scrapping and a Merry and safe Christmas.

You & Me

When all is good with your computer .. the world is sweet. But when things go awry you could tear your hair out. Enough said..... the latter is happening at the moment.

Hopefully I am doing a post for the Scrap the Girls November challenge. I loved the sketch and had fun playing with it. What a cute photo of Chloe taking dolly for a walk. Such a cute photo deserved a really sweet treatment and with these papers from Kaisercraft the colours and designs worked beautifully.

In between starting and completion I have been to Adelaide to celebrate Chloe's third birthday and arrived home to do battle with a sick computer.

I hope you enjoy my page.

Life is Good

What a last minute blog for Scrap The Boys. I have had a busy month and have fallen behind in my scrapping. I did have a wonderful weekend Scrapping with some wonderful ladies a Bright in North east Victoria on the retreat that Jo From Scrapbookit organized. I am now looking forward to Jo's Autumn retreat.
Scrap the Boys had a really inspiring mood board and I put it together with a cheeky photo of Noah.

Favourite 1.

It's late at night and I have just come home from a card making class. Before I go to bed I thought I would do this quick blog. I came across a challenge by Jot Magazine the other day and I just loved the colours in their inspiration board.
Meanwhile two days later I am finishing this blog. Sometimes you just run out of oomph and time.

It was the eclectic mix of colours that really attracted me to this challenge. Because I decided to use these colours I kept the page quite simple and just selected papers that featured the colours that I had chosen. I added a flower spray and painted a couple of metal embellishments to finish off.

Happy Scrapping.

Any One Can Be Cool

Lovely! I have a few days off work so I have been trying to do a little scrapping. I came across a great challenge for Scrap The Boys. I loved it and the page came together very quickly. Usually a page stays on my desk for a few days while I tweak it and poke at it and rearrange it.

I had this lovely photo of Noah and Grandpa in black and white and it enabled me to bring in some fabulous strong colours. These two have the most wonderful friendship, it is very special and I think the joy really comes out in the photo. Noah has been right beside Grandpa in all the oncology visits and they both have a great love of cars...hence the background paper. Noah will sit with Grandpa and they read the Wheels Magazine from front to back and then over again. It is beautiful to see.

Although all these papers are from different collections they really work well together. I am really pleased with how this page came together. No spritzing. No texture pasting. And amazingly for a page of mine.. No Flowers. Just a few great papers that create impact.

I think this is a favourite page of mine...may be the photo has a lot to do with it.
Happy Scrapping everyone.

Scrapbookit Guest

Good Morning Everyone.
I was very excited when Jo from Scrapbookit very generously asked me to be her Feature Artist for September.

My September theme from Jo was Christmas. Wow! Can it really be just around the corner? Jo sent me a beautiful package to work with. The gorgeous Kaisercraft Holy Night Collection,
which is available through Jo's online store, was just the stimulation I needed to get into the Christmas mood.

I began by spritzing the background of some Smooth White Kaiser cardstock with red craft paint and then daubed some spots with versa colour magenta ink. Mounting my photo onto red cardstock helped to lift it from the background as well as picking up the colour from the candy canes.
I cut some of the papers into banners and then placed them behind the photo, then tucking and layering a number of pieces from the kaisercraft Collectibles under the bottom corner of the photo. It was hard to choose which ones to use because they were all so beautiful. I complimented these by adding a fussy cut gold angel to the top corner.
Also in my pack were some fabulous green and red glitter leaf sprays. I adore a bit of bling and glitter so I put a leaf spray on the top right of my photo to balance the page.

Finally I fussy cut two of the stars on the Angels sheet and, using foam tape, I placed the smaller star on top of the larger one, finishing it off with a diamante in the centre of
the star and a scattering of others around... it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!!
I hope this inspires you for the upcoming silly season.

Cheers and Happy Scrapping.

Happy Little Boy

Hi to all. Our spring weather hasn't made up its mind as to what it is going to be yet. Sunny and beautiful one minute and then cold and blustery the next.

White with One has for it's September challenge Antique Moss. You may well ask what colour would that be. OK . Good question. Answer. It is a lovely yellow/green. On a white background this is an amazing colour to work with.

Firstly I went through my bits and pieces to see  what I could come up with. Then I mixed some watercolour paint and away I went. I chose a photo of my beautiful grandson, Fletcher. I had taken these photo's a week ago and was keen to use one of them. The neutral tones in the photo played well with the strong colour.

I hope you enjoy my page.

Be Happy

Another month. Another challenge. This month the colour at White With One is Custard. Not only yummy for the taste but yummy for the colour.  Yellow tones are always a favourite for me. A lovely happy colour and I think that this reflects in the photo I have chosen.

I have made my own texture paste and coloured it  custard yellow. Then I used a mask to create a lovely feature to the background. The photo I chose was of Chloe and I used the wattle in her hand to pull it together. The wattles are just starting to blossom at the moment creating lovely golden splashes in the countryside so I thought that this was a good month to use this photo.

I hope you enjoy my page.

The Pout

This is a very quick blog. The challenge for White With One this month was white with Marsala. I have chosen a very cute photo of Chloe with attitude. The colours in the photo really worked well with the Marsala theme. ( I should have had a little nip whilst doing so.)

These colours really contrasted beautifully with the white background and gave the page a nice crispness.

Thanks for Looking at my page.

Smile

This month has caught me out a bit and I haven't had time to do many challenges. So with a free morning I have attempted the Scrapbookit challenge. Fun Frames and Flairs. I have covered the Fun and Frames. Wasn't sure of the flairs. But you know the saying "in for a penny."
I have been wanting to try a bit of watercolour painting on my backgrounds for a while. So have given it a go on this page. Using a stencil as my outline and I then used water colour pencils for my colours. I really love the way the colours blend and flow together. Then I added some stamping and spritzing to add depth to the background. The main issue is the page warping from the water used. After some research I wet the pages and taped them down and then lay them flat to dry. I put them on the floor in front of the heater and if you look really closely you may be able to see my grandsons foot prints across the page.
All things considered I was happy with the outcome and I will definitely try this method again....hopefully without the footprints.

I hope you enjoy my page.

On a Bicycle Built for Two

If anyone from warmer climes is reading my blog today, appreciate the warmth because today here in North East of Victoria we are experiencing a very cold blast from the antarctic. Rain , cold winds and snow on the alps. But it does make it very cosy inside and very indusive to scrapping. I have had a page on my table for a couple of weeks, just dabbling away at it as time permitted. So today I have finished it. It was a challenge for Sketchabilities. I loved the sketch and had fun playing with it.
The photo is one of Chloe all rugged up and ready for a spin on the back of the bike with Mum peddling away. She loves to get outdoors and loves the back seat on the bike.

I have chosen an Echo Park paper, Spring feathers, as the background because it had a cool look and then added warm colours to reflect the cool day and then the rugged up warmth. I have then spritzed and added texture paste and stenciling. I loved the combination of colours and feel that they worked well together.

I hope you enjoy my page.

Delight

After a busy week it is great to have time to relax and catch up on some scrapbooking. When I saw the challenge at Frosted Designs which was Felt,Fabric,Burlap or Lace my mind went straight to all the fabrics in my quilting stash. The quilting stash that has hardly been touched since the scrapbooking bug took hold. Going through my fabrics was like a walk down memory lane. So this page has all of the above including felt flowers. There are a few scrapbooking embellishments added also.

Adventures of Chloe and Pink Cow

This month is half way through and this is the first challenge I have had time to do.

These photo's of Chloe and Pink Cow playing in the Teepee in the back yard were great for the Scrapbookit challenge for this month. I love the colours in the photo's which gave me a great pallette to work with. Some masking and stamping on the background made a great background. I love twine and the messier the better.

I have just made the cut off time for Scrapbookit. I hope you like my page.

Today...So Fun

It is nearly the end of the month and I am just squeezing this page in. I started this weeks ago but ran out of time. Last weekend I had a fabulous weekend scrapping and chatting.... with maybe a bit more chatting and catching up with scrapping friends from Ballarat. These were friends that I first started scrapping with Twelve years ago. Oldies but goodies.
This page for Scrap The Boys has taken me a bit out of my comfort zone but then that is what is so good about challenges.

Shine On

What a lovely sketch challenge from Stuck! I have had these gorgeous photo's for a little while and have wondered how to scrap them to their best benefit. I love the way the sun shines and reflects on Chloe's hair so that it simply glows. Keeping the embellishments to a minimum has made the photo the main focus.

Love This!

My goodness May already! The year has really flown.I have spent the morning planting my spring bulbs so hopefully I will have a lovely spring display. I have just had a couple of days away catching up with DD3,SIL and our grandson. Such a beautiful little boy, now four and a half months and full of beautiful smiles and gurgles.
The Scrap the Girls challenge was a very sweet sketch that I had fun playing with. A bit of Glimmer Mist on the background and  a stencil and texture paste set the background to build on. A bit of layering and a cute photo to finish. I just Loved This.

Family

Another Blog. Just a quick blog. Scrapbookit has as it's challenge a Family theme. This has spurred me on to scrap a lovely photo of my four grandchildren. This is not a perfect photo of all of them but it is a great snap. I now have a high regard for photographers who take group shots of children....not easy!
I have spritzed the background with Dylusions ink spry and then I have masked over the top with texture paste. Even though the ink spray was dry the texture paste has absorbed the colours of the spray and has created a lovely background.

Happy Friends

Well I have had a few days off work and have been able to scrap scrap scrap! When I saw the colour challenge palette for Scrap The Girls I was instantly thinking of ideas. The colours are unusual and sensational. What a glorious array of colours to work with. But it did test the mettle of my stash because they are an unusual combo and not what I usually work with. The first challenge was to find a photo that would work well with this combo. I chose a photo of my two grand daughters and tried to keep the page simple so that the colours didn't overwhelm the page.

What a colourful page. Happy Scrapping.

Sweet baby Blues

Another April Challenge. The colour challenge  at Scrap The Boys for April was just what I needed for a photo that I was looking forward to scrapping. The range of aqua's through to blue was very fresh and worked well with the photo of Fletcher at 12 weeks.

Now for this post I have very cleverly split the top section so that I have the print on one side and the picture on the other. How I did this I have no idea, so I thought I would go with it (mainly because I couldn't change it). Enjoy.

WW1 April. Wonder

What a wonderful Easter. All  the family had a delightful get together. The weather was very kind and the grand-kids had a fabulous Easter egg hunt through the garden. The Easter bunny..aka Grandpa..had very generously left a plethora of Easter eggs hidden everywhere. I'm not really sure who enjoyed it the most. Grandpa hiding the eggs or the children finding them.
Now reality has hit and  everyone has returned to their various homes, the house is quiet and it is off to work again.

 [ww1%2520sand%255B5%255D.jpg]

The colour challenge at White With 1 for April is Sand. Now for this I had to decide which beach I was thinking of....white sand ,golden sand...ahhhh to be on one of them now. Enough of the dreaming! This was a lovely colour to work with and I had some lovely photo's to choose from that would complement this colour scheme. These photo's of Chloe were taken when they visited some friends in the Riverland and she fell in love with their lovely, patient old dog. I hope I have given these delightful photo's the justice that they deserve. The photography of the page is a bit skewiff but I am a scrapper not a photographer.

Thank you and Happy Scrapping.   Heather B.

Wonder

I was scrolling through some of my favourite blogs when I came across Frosted Designs and their challenge was PINK!  Now if you have followed my blog at all you will notice that I have a penchant for Pink. It may be because when I started scrapping for a long time it was very pink. This was because my grand daughter was my first grandchild and this was what got me into scrapping.
So I had a lot to work with. Some of these papers have been my favourites and it is sad to see the last of it used. The photo is delightful and I enjoyed the prettiness of the page and the photo. I hope you enjoy it.

Charming

What an unusual colour, hemlock. This is the colour challenge for March at White With One. This is a cheeky little photo of my granddaughter that matched well with the colour challenge and allowed me to put just a touch of contrast to the hemlock and white. With some texture paste and a bit of spritzing on the background it made a nice canvas for the photo and the embellishments.
Thanks for looking at my page.

Together

What a beautiful Sunday afternoon to do some scrap-booking. With just a touch of crispness to the air it really reminds us that Autumn is on our doorstep. The ladies at Scrapbookit have put together a multi layer challenge this month. I was particularly taken by the phrase for the title, Together is my favourite place to be. I am also partial to a little bit of bling and so the Gold on the page was an attraction. Finally what a great sketch. My page came together quite nicely and I have used photo's featuring my newest grandson, oh and also his mum so the phrase fitted beautifully.
I hope you enjoy my page.

Fun in the Sun

This is an interesting sketch challenge from the Scrapmuch! blog. I set out with a plan but that went out the window as I worked. I admire those scrappers who plan their pages and work to that plan. My pages evolve from one minute to the next. I never know which way it is going to go and the finished product sometimes even surprises me. I Have turned the sketch around a little but have retained the basis of the sketch.I like the beachy theme and also the colours.
I hope you enjoy my page. Happy Scrapping. Heather B.

Enjoy the Moment

I'm limping along with my computer. It has been three weeks since I have been able to post a blog and being as computer literate as I am it has been very frustrating. So if something untoward appears, apologies in advance. White With One have an interesting colour challenge this month. Celosia Orange.Once again a bit of research and hopefully I have risen to the challenge.Because of the intensity of the colour I decided to use a black and white photo and use the colour as accents. It is not a colour that I enjoy working with but I was happy with the result. I hope you enjoy my interpretation and feel free to leave a comment.

Sweet Summertime

I have had these photo's of Chloe for a while and wanted to do a fresh sea side page with them but inpiration had not arrived. When I saw the White with One challenge which was Placid blue with white these photo's immediately came to mind. The blue Manor House paper as the background worked well with the photo's and really immersed the photo's into the page.
I think Chloe would have tried to catch that seagull if she could have got closer to it.

Thank you for looking at my page.
